Banded Laker I

Lake Superior Agates are Minnesota’s state gemstone for good reason. These striking, billion-year-old treasures were scattered across the Upper Midwest by ancient glaciers. There’s a special thrill in searching for them—whether in farm fields, gravel pits, landscape rock, or along rocky shorelines. And once you’ve found your first, you’re hooked forever, cursed (or blessed) with the irresistible urge to scan the ground for that telltale banded glow whenever you see a patch of rocks.
